traveler’s diary- the beaches of Pangasinan
Thursday, June 22nd, 2006‘i am so dark (baked under the sun) from our independence weekend adventure to the famous beaches of pangasinan.
first, we went to alaminos to check out the sensational "hundred islands" in brgy. lucap. it was fun, and beautiful especially "our island" - we stayed at an island named Clave and the sand was so fine, and it was ours (until a group of koreans seized it from us *grrrr…) we also toured the islands (i have concluded that the islands are bigger than humans, as a child i used to think they were really small like my idea of the chocolate hills which i also proved wrong hehehe) on a boat. of course, would we miss the yellow house located in governor’s island? hehe, the house is small, no wonder the big 4 can’t stay there too long. anyway, we also walked from the big brother house (there, i mentioned it) to another island across which was fun (it was low tide by then) except for the sea plants (scary talaga!) afterwhich we went to the peak of governor’s and saw the sea and its’ breath-taking view.
comments: hundred islands is beautiful and considered as one of the natural wonders of the world and you really would want to invite people to visit. but the people there are so shrewd when it comes to tourists (even locals) and they would ask you to pay more (imagine riding a tricycle and then being billed Php120 for the fare) and paying for an "island hopping tour" without the hopping!!! i think the local government, as well as the dept. of tourism, should look into this as it can (and will) drive tourists away!!!!
our next destination is bolinao, a good 45 mins. ride from alaminos. it was beautiful!!! you could actually see big waves like in baywatch (harhar). the beach was clean and it has a very long shoreline (compared to hundred islands the beach is better here because you don’t have to ride a boat to find the beach therefore, you are not at risk from overpricing boatmen. it is quite secluded so if you need time to really relax and have some peace and quiet then this is the place for you.
comment: you really do not have much to do here because there are no other spots to check out. there’s no tv (huhu) in the resort (at least where we stayed). you can have your own groceries brought in the resort and ask the staff to cook for you with very minimal charge (and for such amount, the taste is superb). be prepared for some serious tanning as it may get too hot at noon. also, endure a long drive from the resort to the town proper, and if you are not lucky enough, you may not have an airconditioned bus waiting so you would need to go back to alaminos.
there… all finished.
til my next adventure… hehehe…
